Who We Support

When a candidate is running for office who will be a strong defender of economic and environmental justice and grassroots democracy, our membership may decide to make a partisan endorsement. Neighbor to Neighbor members conduct an extensive interviewing process in order to select candidates to endorse. The criteria we use to determine our endorsements are:

  1. Support of N2N-MA’s mission statement and Statement of Principles
  2. Strong and clear support for all economic and environmental justice issues
  3. A measurable progressive difference between the candidates
  4. Candidate must be winnable, serious, credible, and viable with a commitment to run a grassroots campaign
  5. Candidate has the potential to run for higher office

Among all endorsed candidates, Neighbor to Neighbor prioritizes the following candidates:

  • Active low-income N2N-MA members and/or movement building districts, wards, and precincts
  • Women and people of color candidates who plan to run for a higher office
  • People running for municipal office in our targeted cities, where the incumbent has a poor economic and environmental justice voting record based on local issues
  • People running in target State Representative or Senate movement building districts where the incumbent has an economic and environmental justice voting record lower than 80% on our Legislative Voter Rating
